Definitions - Glossary part 1

History - is the study of the past.

Monuments - Buildings of historical importance are called monuments.

Inscriptions : Written records engraved on rocks, cave walls, metal pillars,
                      walls of temples  and places on clay and copper tablets
                      are called inscriptions.

Artefacts : The objects that humans made in the past - pottery, tools, ornaments,
                   metal objects, jewellery & weapons are called artefacts.

Manuscripts : Hand written records of the past, in the form of books are
                        called manuscripts.

Religious Literature : Writings which deal with religion are called
                                      religious literature.

Secular Literature : Writings which are not religious are called secular religious.
